HOBBY STOCK                  

H-1 Body and Chassis

a.      1950 or newer American made stock passenger automobile.  Sunroofs and T-Tops must be reinforced and enclosed. Any U.S. full body passenger car. Frame must match body. GM on GM (Example). No external rub bars ahead of rear axle. All cars must have tow hooks on the front and rear. After market steel bodies optional. Must be stock appearing or weight will be added. Cockpit interiors allowed. No spoilers. The floor plan of the driver’s compartment from the drivers seat forward and up a minimum of 6” in front of the driver’s feet and the right side of the cockpit must be made of .125” thickness of steel or aluminum. Fabricated bodies allowed with a stock appearing nose.

b.      Minimum wheelbase is 104 inches.

c.      2900lb. Weight limit w/ driver.

d.      No spoilers, wings, air scoops, or anything that alters the stock appearance.

e.      All cars must have a racing seat and must be securely fastened to the roll cage-and bolted to the floor.

f.        The battery, if located in driver’s compartment, must be enclosed in a battery box.

g.      Fuel cells are required with anti – spill valve.

h.      The drive shaft must be painted white, and also have a safety hoop or loop 18”from the front U-joint.

i.        Brakes must be in perfect working order on all four wheels.  The brakes will be checked.

H-2 Carburetor

a.      Stock OEM 2- barrel carburetor or 4450 350 CFM 2 barrel carburetor or 4412 500 CFM Holley carb allowed.

b.      No dual feed line.

c.      Air must enter through carburetor venturi only.

d.      All air cleaners are required to have a complete metal top and bottom.

H-3 Claim Rule

a.      Engine claim will be $1000.00 plus your engine, with $50.00 going to the wrecker.

b.      The claimer must have participated in at least 50% of the events at FRP (this does not include special races).

c.      The top four finishers in the feature are subject to a claim by finishers 5th on back running on the lead lap.  If more than one driver wants to claim the same engine, the driver running more competitively at the end of the race has the first option.

d.      Driver must have cash, and the claim must be made from the car.  When the track is clear there will be no more claims.

e.      Engine must be removed from the car at the track or some agreed upon location by the original owner under the direction of a racing official.  Any sabotage to the claimed engine will result in the saboteur being banned from further competition at the track for the remainder of the season.

f.        Only the basic engine will be claimed.  This does not include the carburetor, distributor, plug wires fuel pump, water pump, all sending units and pulleys, flywheel, bell housing, exhaust manifolds, and motor mounts.

g.      No driver may claim more than once in a season.

h.      The first sell, no-sell, or exchange is final and binding.

i.        If driver being claimed wishes to exchange and the buyer refuses, the buyer will be considered under the same rules as someone not accepting the claim. 

j.        If someone refuses to sell their engine, they forfeit all winnings and points for that night.  Driver refusing to sell will be subject to a $50 fine, and the driver will not be allowed to race the remainder of the season until the fine is paid.  Points from that driver’s previous week of competition are also forfeited.  No buying back of points or any adjustment at a later time.  Any driver refusing a claim also forfeits his right to claim for the remainder of the year.

k.      Any driver using any device which is intended to deceive other drivers, including but not limited to, a device to squirt oil into or onto the engine to give an outward impression of a “blown” engine will forfeit all winnings and points for that night.  Driver will be subject to a fine equal to the amount of prize money forfeited.  The driver will not be allowed to race the remainder of the season until fine is paid.

l.        Motor must be run the next week.

m.   No cross changing of motor; i.e.: Chevy cannot claim Ford.

H-4 Driver’s Equipment

a.      Four point safety harness (five point recommended), helmet, and fireproof suit required.  Minimum helmet requirement Snell Rating!

b.      Car number must be clearly marked on both right and left side doors-24”height with 3” width.  Car number must also be on the roof with a minimum size being 18”in height and 3”in width.

c.      Full size window nets with quick release mechanisms are mandatory for the driver’s window.

d.      You must have a driver’s window screen.

e.      Factory manufactured racing seats either Aluminum or Composite.

 

H-5 Engine

a.      Cast iron blocks only

b.     Cast iron heads only

c.      Aluminum intake ok

d.      No roller cams.

e.      Headers allowed.

f.        No electric fuel pumps allowed.

g.      May use steel motor mounts.

h.      #1 cylinder must be ahead of the ball joint.

i.        All cars must have mufflers & turndowns. Must meet maximum noise level of 98 DPA at 100 feet.

H-6 Roll Cage

a.      A roll bar must be used.

b.      Three door bars on the driver’s side are mandatory.  Maximum 2” by ¼ “bar allowed and they must be painted the same color as the car.

c.      May have a 2” bar in front of the radiator for protection.  Must be within the confines of the body and they cannot be wider than the stock frame rails.

d.      Kickers off the roll bar are allowed.  Must have tow hoods front and rear.

e.      Minimum .095” tubing at least 1.666”outside diameter for all bars and door bars.

f.        Absolutely no square tubing or galvanized pipe tubing allowed.

g.      Roll bar must be securely welded to the frame or bolted with minimum grade 8 bolts and plates on both sides of the body.  Plates must be at least 6 inches squared and .125 inches thick.

h.      All roll bars will be inspected.

i.        Must consist of a configuration of front and rear hoops connected by side tubing or hoops.  The driver’s head must not protrude beyond the cage with his helmet on while being strapped in the seat.

H-7 Suspension

a.      Screw jack allowed.

b.   Stock frame to rear spring pockets.  One steel shock per - wheel, mounting optional.

 

H-8 Tires and Wheels

 

a.      No mag wheels allowed.

b.      Maximum 8” wheel.  Right front wheel must be reinforced.  Stock steel wheels are permitted and a steel reinforced racing wheel is recommended.

c.      Hoosier super chain link 26.5 27.5/8.0 “A compound” on all four corners or G60 Hoosier tires.

n.      Bead lock allowed on right side only.

H-9 Transmissions and Rear Ends

a.   Transmission must be OEM automatic or manual single or multi disc type clutch style.  No coupler, or aluminum flywheels allowed.  Scatter shield or safety blanket is recommended.

b.   No truck rear ends allowed.

c.   Rear end may be welded.

d.   No J – Bars allowed.

e.   Upper and lower struts can be adjustable (Heim Joints) no short or half lower struts.

H-10 Claim by Promoter

Promoter may claim for $750-with $25 going to the wrecker

Any Hobby Stock racer winning two track championships must move up to another, more advanced class.  Congratulations, your talent is being rewarded!

The pit steward and/ or other Officials in their discretion will rule upon items or situations not covered by the rules of Freeport Raceway Park.
