General: If you are not ready 20 minutes after you are notified your car is being pumped, you are disqualified.

 

S-1 Body

a.       Three bars are required to protect the driver.  Bars should be 3/8” minimum.  No side windows.

b.     Car must run both front and rear firewalls, separating the driver from the engine, drive train, and fuel cell.

c.      No rear spoiler over 8”high.  Side fins no higher than 8 inches.

d.      Must have tow hooks for wrecker front and rear.

e.      Basic body rules are the same as Late Models.

S-2 Brakes

a.      Must have operating brakes on all four wheels.

b.      Brake master cylinder may be changed to racing type.  Must have separate fluid chambers for front and rear.

S-3 Driver’s Equipment

a.      Five point competition safety belt, sub belt, shoulder harness are required.  Belts should be three inches wide

b.      Flame resistant fire suit required; fire suit may be either a one or two piece design.

c.      Helmets are mandatory: they must have full Snell type coverage and meet all Snell standards.  Helmets must be worn at all times while on the track.

d.      Full size window nets with quick release mechanism are required.

 

S-4 Drive shaft

a.      No aluminum drive shafts.

b.      Drive shafts and Add on weights must be kept white.

c.      Must have a drive shaft loop 12”behind front U-joint.

S-5 Engines and Transmissions

a.      American made 6 or 8 cylinder engines only.

b.      Cast iron block only.

c.      Cast iron cylinder heads are ok.

d.       Aluminum Spec. heads allowed.

Chevy #SPCH, Ford# SPFO , Dodge # SPMO , as cast, must fit templates. No titanium parts except for valve spring retainers. Cast iron block only. One 2-barrel Holley 4412(500 cfm). Any Edelbrock Victor series manifold.

e.      Aluminum intake manifolds are O.K.

f.        Maximum of 1 ½ inch carburetor spacer allowed.

g.      All air cleaners are required to have a complete metal top and bottom.

h.      OEM ignition points or HEI style only, no magnetos or distributor-less ignitions.  MSD allowed.

i.        Roller cams are OK! 

j.        No dry sump oiling systems.  

k.      Solid motor mounts may be used as a substitution for rubber ones. 

l.        Any OEM manual or automatic transmission allowed.  Scatter shields must be used. Bert or Prin allowed.

m.   OEM style clutches multiple disc clutches, no couplers, and no dog clutches are allowed.

a.      Headers are allowed.  All cars must have mufflers & turndowns. Must meet maximum noise level of 98 DPA at 100 feet.

 

b.      Weight

Standard weight w/ driver, post race is as follows:

Cars running a GM 358 CI or less, a Ford or a Dodge with a 364 CI or less will also be allowed a 150lb. weight break. Stock stub will also get a 150 lb weight break.

            EXAMPLE:

Big motor – 2550 lbs. w/ driver.      Stock stub with Big motor – 2400 lbs w/ driver

Small motor – 2400lbs. w/ driver.   Stock stub with Small motor – 2250 lbs w/ driver

Chassis:

a.      Cars with a fabricated stub are allowed a maximum 6” setback. Cars with a factory front stub will be allowed an 8” setback. To be considered a factory front stub, you must retain stock steering and idler arms and standard complete frame rails. No coil over.

 

S-6 Engine Claim Rule

a.      There is a $1000-plus motor claim with $25 going to the wrecker.

b.      The claimer must have participated in at least 50% of the events at FRP (this does not apply to special races).

c.      The top four finishers in the feature are subject to a claim by finishers 5th on back running on the lead lap.  If more than one driver wants to claim the same engine, the driver running more competitively at the end of the race has the first option.

d.      Driver must have cash, and the claim must be made from the car.  When the track is clear there will be no more claims.

e.      Engine must be removed from the car at the track or some agreed upon location by the original owner under the direction of a racing official.  Any sabotage to the claimed engine will result in the saboteur being banned from further competition at the track for the remainder of the season.

f.        Only the basic engine will be claimed.  This does not include the carburetor, distributor, plug wires, fuel pump, water pump, all sending units and pulleys, flywheel, bell housing, exhaust manifolds, and motor mounts.

g.      No driver may claim more than once in a season.

h.      The first sell, no-sell, or exchange is final and binding.

i.        If driver being claimed wishes to exchange and the buyer refuses, the buyer will be considered under the same rules as someone not accepting the claim.

j.        If someone refuses to sell their engine, they forfeit all winnings and points for that night.  Driver refusing to sell will be subject to a $50.00 fine, and the driver will not be allowed to race the remainder of the season until the fine is paid.  Points from that driver’s previous week of competition are also forfeited.  No buying back of points or any adjustment at a later time.  The driver will not be allowed to race the remainder of the season until the fine is paid

k.      Any driver using any vehicle which is intended to deceive other drivers, including, but not limited to, a device to squirt oil into or onto the engine to give and outward impression of a “blown” engine will forfeit all winnings and points for that night.  Driver will be subject to a fine equal to the amount of prize money forfeited.  The driver will not be allowed to race the remainder of the season until fine is paid.

l.        Motor must be run the next week.

m.   No cross changing of motor: i.e. Chevy can not claim Ford.

S-7 Engine Claim by Promoter

a.     Any motor may be claimed by the promoter, for $750.00, without a swap.  This is supposed to be a low dollar fun class!  If you      want to go faster or spend a lot of money, then build a modified or a late model!

S-8 Front Suspension

a.      Spindles and hubs may be stock or wide 5 aluminum hubs allowed front and rear.

b.      Rack and pinion steering allowed.

c.      Front cross member must be 6”from the ground.

d.      Coil covers allowed 103” wheelbase.

S-9 Fuel, Cooling and Electrical Systems

a.      No electric fuel pumps.

b.      Fuel cells required with anti-spill valve.

c.      Fire extinguisher required.  Must be within driver’s reach.

d.      Gasoline and E85 allowed.

e.      Carburetor must be a HOLLEY 4412 500 CFM 2 bbl. Spacers allowed.  All carburetors must be stock out of the box with no modifications.

f.        Radiator may be protected, but must remain in stock location.

g.      Air must enter through the carburetor venturi only. Intake plenum height 6” including spacer.

h.      All air cleaners are required to have a complete metal top and bottom.

S-10 Mirrors

      No mirrors, either side or rear- view, allowed.

S-11 Rear End

 

a.      Quick changes allowed.

 

S-12 Roll Cage

a.      Full four- post roll cage must be used.  Full roll cage will be allowed.  Mandatory three-door bars on left (driver’s) side must be installed.  May have 2”bars in front of radiator for protection, within the confines of the body, no wider than stock frame rails.  May tie front frame horns together.

b.      Must consist of a configuration of front and rear hoops connected by side tubing or hoops.  The driver’s head must not protrude beyond the cage with his helmet on while being strapped in the seat.

S-13 Shocks

a.    One-per wheel.  Racing shocks are O.K.  Shocks do not have to be in stock location.

S-14 Wheels and Tires

a.      Tires cannot be softened. 

b.      Bead-lock allowed on all four.

c.      Steel or Aluminum wheels permitted.  Plastic wheels are not permitted.

d.      14” wheels allowed.

e.      Hoosier 11.0 88, 90, 92-15 specs WRS D-55 stamped LBS tire. Last years wheel and tire combination are ok to use also.

f.        Tires may be sipe or grooved.

 

S-15 Weight
